Freedom Tower view from Marina
1987 America Cup - North Cove Marina
Million Dollar Quartet
We wanted an early start on our 147 mile run to NYC and left our slip in Mystic at 8:00 am.  The Sound had finally calmed down and we had a smooth ride - the water surface was like glass.
Upon entering the East River things got stirred up and it was a typical bumpy ride to our destination -  The North Cove Marina.
On our last stop a week prior, we had stayed on the Jersey side of the Hudson.  This time we would be in the heart of the Financial District on the Manhattan side.  What a different feel............we were now part of all the action, instead of seeing it at a distance.
We had tickets for Million Dollar Quartet ......... a musical inspired by recording session that brought together rock n' roll legends Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins.  On Dec. 4, 1956, these four young musicians gathered at Sun Records in Memphis for what would be one of the greatest jam sessions ever.  The play was great and we enjoyed the people watching during cocktail hour.  We even managed our way around the subway system!
