Dinner at Cafe' de la Paix
al fresco dining & people watching
With our cruising agenda on hold because of lock closures, we decided this weekend would be the perfect time to visit Quebec City.
Located on the St. Lawrence River at Cap Diamant are the historic Citadel of Quebec and the walled "Old City of Quebec".  As you enter through the arched entrance of the wall, the atmosphere of continental Europe immediately engulfs you.  The narrow cobblestone streets, horse-drawn carriages and enchanting neighborhoods are full of history and charm.
We first visited the city thirty years ago and it seems that little has changed, mostly because it is a UN Historic Designated City and they aren't allowed to change anything.  Both times we stayed at the Le Chateau Frontenac, a domineering castle like structure that towers over Cap Diamant in the center of the old city.
We feel very spoiled, especially after spending six weeks on the White Label.
